Halloween 2009

We had our monthly homeschooling gathering at Emily and Timmy's house last Thursday. The kids wore their costumes and Leslie made a melt-in-your-mouth chocolate bundt cake.

On Halloween, the campus athletics complex, offered an afternoon of Healthy Halloween. Elizabeth, Bjarney, and Martina went together and did some yoga. You'll note in the last picture that Elizabeth's interpretation of the final relaxation pose is a little different. Can you find her?

And finally, the evening arrived, the kids got dressed up and we took advantage of all Westgate had to offer: a kick off party, a parade led by some of the memebers of the MIT marching band, and trick or treating with our neighbors!

True confession: I wasn't into Halloween this year. I think it's because it's a kind of purposeless holiday. It is fun, but it's origins are questionable and it fills us up with sugar/challenges my self control! I'm getting old, I know. But I've already begun to think about Christmas and how meaningful it is - makes all the fuss about Halloween seem pretty silly.
